Product Review: Pack-away Sensory Bag

As a Childminder I try to find the right balance between keeping my house a home and offering the best environment for the children I look after. Caring for a wide age range from 7 months to 10 years means that this can be particularly difficult to achieve. I strive to offer the best for all my children so choosing the right equipment is very important. I recently reviewed the Pack-away Sensory Bag from Designs For Education. The bag contains 1 white and 1 black cushion, as well as a fleece bolster cushion. The mat measures 122cm².

The bag is ideal for a childminding setting like mine, as I like to change play space around depending on the children’s interests and their age. Using the sensory bag means that I can create another area in the room and a space where the babies could go to for a cuddle, to relax or lay down during the day.

The sensory mat and cushions are designed with a high contrasting fabric. These patterns are used in equipment to stimulate babies brain development. I found that once set up the babies were instantly attracted to this area. The older babies especially loved the bolster cushion for sitting on with one leg either side to sing ‘row row row the boat’, while the younger babies enjoyed the textures of the silk and fluffy square cushions on their faces a feet.

I now use the mat as a resource for the garden. It packs away nicely with our outdoor equipment and helps to create a cosy quiet area for the babies while we play outside. The Pack-away Sensory Bag is a great value resource at only £59, and has many uses.
