Things Are Looking Up
We first posted this blog in 2014. With the current climate of funding issues within the early years/education sector the need for extra opportunities to raise money has never been more relevant. In the run up to the election a new funding formula was designed which would redistribute money from wealthier schools to poorer schools (mainly in rural areas), however, changing the plan to scrap free school lunches has turned this on its head – there are no funds within the budget to redistribute.
So where do we get extra money from?
Here are some funding and grant opportunities which may be worth exploring . . .
Big Lottery Fund: Funding dependent on project | Deadline: Ongoing.
Aims to bring improvements to communities and the lives of the people most in need. Areas targeted include health, education, environment and charitable purposes.
Awards for All – part of the Big Lottery Fund: Funding £300 – £10,000 | Deadline: Ongoing.
Funds small local based projects to improve communities and the lives of people within them.
Tesco Charity Trust Community Awards Scheme: Funding between £500 – £4,000 | Four deadlines throughout the year.
These awards help charities and non-profit organisations that support children’s education needs as well as general community projects.
Woodenspoon: Funding £20,000 – £100,000 | Deadline: Ongoing.
Offers grants to local and national projects. Funding must benefit disadvantaged children with a strong emphasis placed on those with Special Needs.
Sport England – part of the National Lottery: Funding £300 – £100.00 | Deadline: Various according to programme.
Focuses investment on organisations and projects that will grow and sustain sports.
Fields In Trust: Funding dependent on project | Deadline: Ongoing.

Lloyds TSB Foundations: Funding dependent on project | Deadline: Ongoing.

Fundraising by Searching the Internet.
Some search engine websites will help you raise money for schools, charities, sports clubs and other good causes from everyday internet searches – every search made will generate a donation to your chosen cause.
