This fantastic day is embraced worldwide to encourage children to read and explore a wider range of literature. Every book you read to children in your setting can act as a starting point for many baking, craft and play activities covering all area’s of learning.

Here we share 10 ways in which you can get involved in World Book Day in your setting:
1. Bake a beautiful Peach Crumble or make your own Jazzies inspired by great tales from Roald Dahl.
2. Decorate a paper plate and create a class room filled with the Cat in the Hat.
3. Cup printing the Hungry Caterpillars.
4. Why not dig through the recycling for your plastic bottles and have go at creating these beautiful hanging Rainbow Fish.
5. Help the children to come up with their own stories using a collection of story stones.
6. Create a shadow puppet theatre for re-telling the children’s favourite stories.
7. Make up a batch of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Playdough with this great recipe.
8. Take the children out to collect sticks to make their own stick men after reading the lovely ‘Stick Man’.
9. Reuse toilet roll’s or kitchen towel tube’s to make character’s from the children’s favourite nursery rhymes or story – like this great three little pigs craft.
10. Pick out the children’s favourite stories and create some celebration bunting to decorate your cosy nook or book corner.
